A new clip from "Person of Interest" season 5 has landed and it sees the group trying to fix The Machine, which seems to be acting up. It appears that She, as the piece of powerful apparatus was always referred to, is still having trouble with visual recognition with bugs continuing to mess up her reading.
The technical hiccup allowed the characters to switch up, giving each of the cast members the elusive, and not to mention fun, chance for a nice round of impressions of each other. The Machine read Reese as Finch and Root became Fusco in the gear's eyes, complete with the snack and the nagging.
As pointed by IGN, it was nice seeing the group in a scene that's lighter in tone. The crime drama has not had moments as light-hearted as that, which is fun and fresh to watch. It is unclear though if this atmosphere will spread across the entirety of "Person of Interest" season 5.
As far as what more to expect about the upcoming season, which Michael Emerson aka Finch teased via Entertainment Weekly could be the show's last, fans of the Shaw and Root dynamic will be happy to know that the duo will share some special screen time.
"I think some things that the fans have been waiting for, I think some exploration that the fans deserve to see at this point, so that was a pretty big thing that we recently filmed," Sarah Shahi, who plays Shaw in the series, teased in the same EW interview.
Amy Acker aka Root added that "Person of Interest" season 5 will pick up from the dilemma of the group about either saving Shaw or fixing The Machine. She adds that fans will see her character struggle upon the show's return.
All in all, Emerson promised that "there's going to be some climaxes, there's going to be some wrapping up, [and] I assume casualties, transformations, endings of all sorts," emphasizing that season 5 could serve as the final one too.
"Person of Interest" season 5 premieres next year on CBS.
