'Paladins' news: 'Overwatch' inspired game not coming to Nintendo Switch

"Overwatch" and "Paladins" have a great shared history, something that most fans of the games already know. Basically, the latter has been accused of being a clone of the former (or vice versa). But if they have one thing in common, it is the fact that neither of them is coming to the Nintendo Switch.

In the past, Blizzard Entertainment already iterated their decision of not developing an "Overwatch" version for Nintendo's latest console. The studio admitted that doing so would require a good amount of time and resources. Instead of working on such project, they feel that it would be a better move to focus on the platforms they currently support.

Interestingly, "Paladins" will be taking the same path. Hi-Rez Studios' very own co-founder Todd Harris revealed to DualShockers that a version of the game for the Switch is not in development. However, he pointed out that it does not mean it is impossible. It is just that "at this time," it is not their priority.

Just like "Overwatch," the studio wants to focus on supporting "Paladins" on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Harris did not give further details regarding their move on not bringing the game to Nintendo's console, though. It is worth noting that the game is currently in beta on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with PC being on Steam Early Access.

GameSpot, on the other hand, mentioned about Hi-Rez being interested in bringing "Paladins" to Project Scorpio. The latter is Microsoft's upcoming console, the latest iteration of the Xbox series. Harris said that the console "looks like great technology," but did not comment on their plans for supporting it. The aforesaid console is expected to take the spotlight during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in June.

"Paladins" has drawn flak from gamers, as it is believed to be a complete clone of "Overwatch." The developers of the game have said otherwise, though. Nevertheless, one cannot deny that both games have a huge following and are probably among the most successful shooter games of today.
