'Overwatch' update news: Blizzard begins development on new first-person project

Despite the massive success of its team-based, first-person shooter videogame, "Overwatch," it seems like Blizzard may be starting development on another first-person videogame project to take gamers in by storm.

Blizzard just recently put up two ads for an unannounced game or project, searching for a lead software engineer for its engine and a lead software engineer for its tools. In the job description for each position, the videogame developer writes that it's looking for an engineer seasoned with experience to do work on an unnamed videogame that's driven by a first-person engine.

Not only that, but another clue as to what type of game Blizzard is working on is an indication on its post that engineers with past experience working on other first-person and other action-centered videogame projects would definitely have an upper hand in the fight for the position.

Though it may not seem much, the ads tell gamers that Blizzard is working on a new action-packed first-person videogame and Eurogamer guesses that the company could be working on a new campaign for "Overwatch."

Apparently, the game director of "Overwatch" and Blizzard's vice president, Jeff Kaplan, has expressed interest in developing a co-op campaign for the videogame. Apparently the company enjoys creating both single player as well as co-operative campaigns for its videogames, and Kaplan has said earlier this year that Blizzard was hoping to develop something co-operative for "Overwatch."

However, while a new first-person project from Blizzard may sound exciting, it seems like it will take a while before gamers get any official releases from the videogame developer.

Blizzard already sent out some of its biggest announcements during this year's Blizzcon, and updates to "Overwatch" have already been taking place. Not only did the developer release the new hero Sombra and the Arcade mode earlier this month, but Blizzard also updated the public test region of "Overwatch" yesterday as well.

With so much already done, it seems like other important reports from the videogame developer have been pinned to sometime in 2017.
