The fourth season of "Overwatch" is about to end, and as soon as it does, it will end with a blast. With its conclusion in the Competitive Play of the game, Blizzard Entertainment is looking to wrap things up in preparation for the fifth season.
In the history of "Overwatch," each season usually runs around 90 days before completion. Of course, with it comes the typical off-season that players have to undergo. Basically, this is placed for the developers to have a window of transition for the new season.
The current season of the game is expected to end later this month, as announced by the game's very own director, Jeff Kaplan. The off-season, on the other hand, will only exist for a week. It is worth noting that Blizzard will be equipping a timer on the Competitive Play card later on.
As for the fifth season of "Overwatch," it is confirmed to arrive in the early part of June. However, the studio mentioned that this is possible if and only things go smoothly. Kaplan explained that with every season, they try to make things a little bit different, and the upcoming one is no different. But as long as things go the way they planned it, then everything will be on time.
Other reports suggest that all "Overwatch" characters will soon undergo a major makeover. That is because the video game company is believed to introduce a couple of new cosmetic items. Apparently, though, this remains unofficial and the studio has yet to officially announce it.
In related "Overwatch" news, SegmentNext reports that Symmetra will most likely undergo a big change courtesy of Blizzard. Although nothing specific has been revealed, Kaplan said that sooner or later, "Symmetra fans will be very pleased." There are those who believe that this could refer to new Legendary skins for the hero. After all, she does lack in that area.
