In the last episode of "Once Upon a Time" (OUAT) season 5, fans saw another iconic character in a different light.
King Arthur (Liam Garrigan) was last episode's villain who, apparently, did not pull out a complete Sword from the Stone and only the Dark One's dagger is needed to recreate the famed Excalibur.
Arthur's obsession to find the dagger led to a broken marriage with his Queen Guinevere (Joana Metrass) and a broken kingdom Camelot.
Not only did Arthur's life got affected by the obsession with the dagger but also Charming (Josh Dallas) and Snow's (Ginnifer Goodwin) relationship — for a brief moment at least. Snow didn't think Arthur could be trusted because Lancelot (Sinqua Walls) told her.
That led to Charming — the newest member of the Knights of the Round Table — and Snow arguing as to who could or could not be trusted.
Meanwhile, Emma (Jennifer Morrison) was still struggling with the Rumple voices in her head and she only has Hook (Colin O'Donoghue) to keep her sane.
As for the present day in Storybrooke, Mr. Gold (Robert Carlyle) was seen pleading the Dark One/Dark Swan (Morrison) to let go of him.
The next episode will see more of Gold and the Dark Swan negotiating about the former being a hero.
Based on a preview clip released by ABC, the Dark Swan orders Gold to be the one to pull the Excalibur from the stone and be a hero.
But Gold is not up to that mission and pleads the Dark One not to make him do the deed. It is expected that Gold will show a side of him that OUAT fans have never seen before, according to E! Online.
The Dark One ends up getting help from the brave princess Merida (Amy Manson) to train Gold to be hero and that's because she and her heart are under the Dark One's control.
The fifth episode of "Once Upon a Time" season 5 is titled "Dreamcatchers" and will air on Sunday, Oct. 25, at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
