When "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" was launched on Nintendo Switch, it quickly acquired a huge following and good reviews. There is no doubt that it is among the most celebrated games of today. Interestingly, the title has just set a new record — something that the company has been hoping for since day one.

According to GamesIndustry, "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" has just given Nintendo its very first No.1 in the United Kingdom in more than five years based on the latest GfK rankings. It is the first ever boxed game from the company to ever secure the said title since 2011. Back then, it was "Pokemon White" on DS that topped the charts. Add to this the fact that it is the first "Mario" game to ever reach the peak of the charts since "Mario Kart Wii" back in 2008.

One of the factors that made all of these possible is Nintendo's decision to unleash more Switch units for the launching of "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe." This could also be the reason why "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's" sales obtained at least 68% growth in sales on a weekly basis. It jumped from the 10th spot all the way to the fifth this week.

Apart from the success of "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe," there are other titles worth mentioning. One is the "Sniper: Ghost Warriors 3," which landed on the second place. Bandai Namco's very own IP titled "Little Nightmares" acquired the fourth spot. "Outlast 2," on the other hand, reached 14th.

Included in the list is Rockstar Games' very own "Grand Theft Auto Five," which is still a mainstay in the top five. Unfortunately for "Ghost Recon: Wildlands," things have not been on its side — it is quietly sitting on seventh spot. "FIFA 17" is also among the games that took a big fall, coming from the ninth to the third. The full list of titles included in the GfK U.K. Top Ten can be accessed here.
