Nintendo NX rumors, news: CD Projekt Red describes console as 'fantastic'

Nintendo isn't saying much about its upcoming video game console, code-named NX. Luckily, game developer CD Projekt Red commented that the NX will be great.

Game developers have the privilege of being the first to get hold of new video gaming hardware to test for their games. This is the case for the Nintendo NX, and CD Projekt Red is one of the fortunate studios to have one. Fabian Mario Döehla, the studio's Communications Manager, recently shared bits of information about the upcoming console. He was interviewed by Rocket Beans TV.

Döehla said, "It will be fantastic. As developer [CD Projekt] you get access to the hardware and everybody [at CD Projekt] is looking forward. We know things."

He added, "It was like this in the past as the Wii prototypes came in, back then called Revolution. It was so funny that in Japan they were all very excited at the developer studios of SEGA, they thought it was very good. The Europeans took a little longer. Like 'Well, maybe this doesn't work,' you know, because it was technically just a GameCube. It was not much more. But NX what you hear [of the developers] about NX is all very positive."

The host tried to squeeze more out of the manager, trying make the executive more specific, as in whether it will be a console or a handheld. However, Döehla gave a simple reply, that it will be a "fantastic" one.

Meanwhile, fans are speculating that the upcoming console will use an AMD SoC, an x86 APU, which is similar to what's featured on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. If rumors prove to be true, this will be the first time that all major video game console manufacturers will have the same chipset.

However, it was also reported previously that the Nintendo NX won't be as powerful as the PlayStation 4 and is not targeting to compete directly.

Fans are expecting the Nintendo NX to be unveiled in March 2017.
