Following main character Nina Dobrev's exit from the vampire drama series, "The Vampire Diaries," the show's future has been left hanging on a balance.
Dobrev's character, Elena Gilbert, was one of the main reasons why fans were tuning in to the series. Ever since her departure, "The Vampire Diaries" has experienced a drop in ratings.
Adding to the challenges faced by The CW series is its new time slot. It has been reported that "The Vampire Diaries" will be moving from airing Thursdays at 8 p.m. EST to Fridays at 8 p.m. EST once it returns from its winter break. Many entertainment news outlets pointed out that this is mostly bad news in the world of prime time TV.
With news on the vampire drama series' uncertain fate, how does Dobrev feel about all of it?
When asked if there is chance for her to appear in one of the show's episodes, the 26-year-old actress dismissed the idea. "That chapter is closed, sadly — bittersweet," she told Entertainment Weekly in September.
The actress is determined to land projects that she feels excited about. In October, Dobrev talked with Interview Magazine to have a discussion about her acting career. She said that she's been offered several projects, but she doesn't want to take them immediately.
"I'm not just going to accept something because it's a lot of money. I'm an artist; content is incredibly important to me. I only want to keep moving up and up in terms of quality and be careful with perception," Dobrev said in her interview.
The actress also added that she wants to do more than just showing herself in pretty makeup; she aspires to take on more serious and darker roles.
