Moto by Lenovo: Lenovo to come out with Moto X3?

The Moto X 2015 Motorola web site

With Lenovo taking over Motorola Mobility, fans worry that the Moto brand may come to an end. However, recent speculations suggest that Lenovo's previous confirmation of the Moto brand continuation is true; reportedly, the company is already testing a new iteration under the new Moto by Lenovo branding.

According to Android Central, an Indian export website has listed online a Moto X3 handset being shipped out to India from the United States. The industry follower surmised that, most likely, the units are on their way to the Indian R&D branch of Lenovo for testing purposes.

The export website listing did not list the specs of the upcoming Moto X3, other than stating that the units in question have a 5-inch display and a single-SIM feature.

Meanwhile, Trusted Reviews says that the "X3" tag of the Moto handset seen online may just be an internal codename for the device and not the actual name of the brand. This seems plausible, considering that although Motorola has already released three versions of the Moto X, there is no "X2" in the lineup.

The industry follower added that if the display size is to be a factor, the Moto X3 seen online may be the new Moto by Lenovo entry in the Moto G lineup, since the current iterations carry the same 5-inch screen dimension. The current Moto X series iterations are bigger -- the Moto X Play has a 5.5-inch display, while the Moto X Style features a 5.7-inch screen.

Since the Moto X3 is already on its way for testing, fans may expect a new Moto iteration to come out this year. While Lenovo has yet to clear things up regarding its new Moto by Lenovo lineup, the Moto X3 sighting may be a confirmation of the lineup's upcoming debut which may even be launched together with a premium Moto X successor.
