Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date may be stalled until Kaby Lake processors come out

What's next after Microsoft Surface Pro 4? Microsoft

Microsoft may drop the Surface Pro 5 sometime between October this year and 2017, but speculations claim that the tech firm is prepping to release other Windows Surface products in the coming days.

PC Advisor reported about the photo that was posted by a computer developer named Shubhan Chemburkar, who visited Microsoft's building 88 in Redmond in early July. Based on the photo, the tech firm dedicated several product placeholders for what appears to be two Surface products that were labeled with "2016" and "Coming Soon."

These could be pertaining to the Microsoft Pro 5 hybrid laptop-tablet, as well as the upcoming Microsoft Book 2 high-performance laptop. But aside from these devices, three placeholders hinted that more Microsoft Surface products will come out in 2017.

Meanwhile, a separate report from MobiPicker claimed that the release date of Microsoft Surface Pro 5 had been delayed until Spring 2017 due to manufacturing issues.

According to reports, sources from China claimed that the upcoming hybrid "laplet" will come out with Intel's 7th generation Kaby Lake processors. These will reportedly help improve the device's battery life. But this means that Microsoft has to wait until the latest Intel processors become available later this year.

Aside from its rumored release date, speculations about the specifications of the upcoming Microsoft Surface Pro 5 have been released online. Some claim that the stylus that came with the Surface Pro tablets called Surface Pen will also be included in the Surface Pro 5 bundle.

The device is also rumored to be equipped with a 2K screen, 16GB of RAM, a USB-C port instead of the USB 3.0 port, which was featured on the Surface Pro 4. It may also come out with cameras, as well as the latest Wi-Fi and Bluetooth components.

At the moment, Microsoft continues to keep silent about the official release date and actual specs of the Surface Pro 5.
