'Mass Effect: Andromeda' release date: Game coming in early 2017, will introduce new 'player choice' system

Mass Effect: Andromeda Bioware

BioWare has already confirmed that its next sequel game, "Mass Effect: Andromeda" will have a delayed release and is now scheduled for early 2017. However, the developer is putting the additional time to good use as the new game is set to introduce both improved and new features for the franchise.

It is revealed that "Mass Effect: Andromeda" will improve its player choice system, often referred to as the Paragon and Renegade systems. This gameplay features either a hero or villain paths for the player to follow depending on the choices as the game progresses. The previous "Mass Effect" games are pioneers for this type of gameplay.

However, no specific details are mentioned to date, and the developer team at BioWare confirmed that a major information dump is expected this coming fall.

The new and improved gameplay and system is already expected, as well as an overhaul for the new game, since BioWare asked fans for a bit more time for the release of "Mass Effect: Andromeda." Originally scheduled to release this year, the new game now has an expected roll out date sometime in early 2017. No less than Aaron Flynn, general manager of BioWare, made the announcement.

Flynn stated, "We also know we need the right amount of time to make sure we deliver everything the game can be and should be – that's our commitment from all of us to all of you. Because of that, Mass Effect: Andromeda will now ship in early 2017. We can't wait to show you how far we're all going to go."

The excitement over the new sequel is already building prior to the scheduled N7 press event later this year. On Nov. 7, BioWare is expected to provide a major details dump for the upcoming game, including a new gameplay trailer and a specific release date. There are also talks that details on the rumored "Collector's Edition" will also come out during the event.
