As rumor mills predicted, October will indeed be a big month for Microsoft. The Redmond-based company just confirmed that on Oct. 6 in New York City, Windows 10-powered products will be unveiled.

The invite sent out by the software giant reads, "We have some exciting news to share about Windows 10 devices."

There is no mention of a specific device but media outlets are already expecting that the first breed of Windows 10 devices will finally be unveiled. That said, the long-rumored and practically overdue flagships, the Microsoft Lumia 950 and the 950 XL, could at last be made official, as well as the Microsoft Surface Pro 4, the latest in its mega successful 2-in-1 device lineup and a follow-up to the Surface Pro 3.

The general consensus about the Lumia handsets before the announcement of the Oct. 6 event was that they are indeed the first ones to don the new operating system. Both are reportedly getting a 21-megapixel PureView sensor on the back and a 5-megapixel camera on the front as well as 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage. The Lumia 950, however, is said to come with a 5.2-inch Quad HD display and a Snapdragon 808 processor while the Lumia 950 XL should sport the same Quad HD display but at 5.7 inches and a more advanced Snapdragon 810 chipset.

Meanwhile, the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is expected to be a massive upgrade to the already formidable Surface Pro 3. While the two reportedly share the same design language, the former is thinner and lighter while still packing greater power. This is possible, as per consistent rumors, with the use of the new Intel Skylake processor, which should boost its performance, prolong its battery life and consume low power enough to eliminate the need of a fan inside.

Previous reports also hint that the Microsoft Band 2 will be released alongside the Microsoft Lumia 950, 950 XL and Surface Pro 4 but not much is being said about the new fitness band.
