While Netflix has yet to reveal the official release date of "Longmire" season 5, the cast and crew of the series have already celebrated a big milestone for the series.

On Wednesday, screenwriter Tony Tost posted a photo of the cast on Twitter taken during the celebration of the 50th episode filmed for the series.

It was a milestone indeed for the show, since they almost vanished from TV after their original network, A&E, cancelled the show after the season 3 finale in 2014.

Netflix took over the critically acclaimed series and released its fourth season via streaming and ordered for at least another season.

While official reports about season 5 remain scarce, rumors claim that Sheriff Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor) will resume his mission of running after the Irish crime family that operates in Absaroka County in Wyoming.

Aside from the sheriff's crime-fighting tasks, viewers of the show are also expecting to learn more about Longmire's possible budding love affair with his longtime partner, Vic (Katee Sackhoff). Those who have read the novels written by Craig Johnson where the TV series is based on know that Longmire and Vic will eventually fall in love with each other. But this could possibly be a complicated arc since Longmire was seen dating Dr. Donna Monaghan (Ally Walker) by the end of season 4.

In other news, former "Unforgettable" and "Nip/Tuck" star Dylan Walsh reportedly got a gig to portray a recurring role in "Longmire" season 5.

According to a report from Deadline, Walsh will portray the role of Shane Muldoon, a criminal boss. The said role will reunite him with executive producer Greer Shephard, who also worked with him on "Nick/Tuck."

"Longmire" season 5 is expected to be released later this year.
