LG G Watch R release date soon as teaser released [Video]

LG released a 30-second teaser in YouTube on Sunday of what is undoubtedly its upcoming circular smartwatch. The title "LG's New Wearable: Official Teaser" says as much, but the company has not provided any details.

Further, the company accompanied the video with the comment, "Unveiling of #LG 's newest #wearable is just aROUND the corner. Stay tuned!"

Android Central is a bit more helpful, stating that the new smartwatch, called the LG G Watch R, will be unveiled at the upcoming IFA conference. This year's annual electronics show in Berlin, Germany will take place from Sept. 5 to 10.

The video does emphasize the watch's round face which, many have commented, is like Motorala's Moto 360. The Moto 360, schedule to be launched in Chicago on Sept. 4, stands out from the crowd because of its shape, says CNet. This was likely noted by the Korean electronics giant, since it didn't take long for it to follow Motorola's lead.

The first G Watch by LG, launched only two months ago, has a rectangular face. If its specs are any indication, then one can imagine what the upcoming model will be capable of doing.

The earlier model is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with 1.2GHz CPU, 512MB memory expandable to 4GB, and runs on a 400mAh battery. It is preloaded with Android Wear, and is compatible with the Android 3+ OS. It has 1.65-inch IPS LCD screen, responds to voice, and is water and dust resistant.

The upcoming G Watch, based on the video, looks more elegant than its square sibling, but the company has yet to reveal more details.
