'Legend of Zelda' for Wii U rumors: Players can reportedly choose either male or female protagonist; game said to come with voice acting

Fans got all hyped up after a blogger leaked information regarding the highly anticipated "Legend of Zelda" for Wii U. First, players can choose either a male or a female Link character. Second, voice acting will now be provided by the game. Third, fans can also expect it to be coming to the Nintendo NX.

"I heard from multiple sources that you can choose between a male or female as your playable character in Zelda," Nintendo blogger Emily Rogers said.

According to NerdReactor, Rogers posted the information on her protected Twitter account. In the past "Legend of Zelda" games, Link was always a young male. If it's true that the reincarnated Link can either be male or female depending on the players' preference, then the game may also provide an option for character customization, either in this upcoming one or in future releases.

Rogers also said, "There is voice acting for most of the characters...except Link."

If it's true that the characters will be able to speak, this will provide additional entertainment for gamers. Players would definitely prefer this rather than only hearing sighs and grunts all throughout the game, not to mention a quiet moment when reading those text boxes while dealing with the NPCs or non-playable characters. However, Link's character will have none of the above.

Finally, Rogers said, "Yes, Zelda is coming to both Wii U and NX. I confirmed it with a ton of people. You can choose which one to get. Or get both."

Many will undoubtedly welcome the unconfirmed information of "Legend of Zelda" being available for both the current Wii U and the upcoming next-gen console, the NX. Gamerant added that this particular rumor may prompt PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players to head over to the Nintendo gaming system. This particular game has a large cult following and is considered one of the most successful franchises for the Japanese game giant.

With regard to the credibility of Emily Rogers, she is the same person who leaked early this year that "Paper Mario: Color Splash" would be out on Wii U, NintendoLife reported.
