Game developer Valve has not made any official announcement or confirmation that "Left 4 Dead 3" is in the pipeline, but there have been some rumors that it will come out soon.

According to Digital Spy, the game had a 2016 release date but given that there are only three months left before the year ends, it can be expected to be launched in 2017 or later. Rumors, according to the article, say that it will be made available for the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

A fairly recent discussion on Valve Time also said that Tristan Reidford, a conceptual artist for Valve, gave a teaser for "Left 4 Dead 3" in a Destination Workshops Tools tutorial. One of the images reportedly had a folder named "left4dead3," but this was later changed.

There have been a lot of rumors regarding "Left 4 Dead 3" for years now. Back in 2013, a Neogaf discussion mentioned Source 2 and the restoration of the game's devtest unit test. In 2014, alleged screenshots were shared, also on NeoGaf.

Another rumor that has been going around for some time is that the game will feature four main characters, namely Irvin, a black gangster; Garrett Jr., a kenpo fighter; Keenan, a comic book nerd; and Katherine, a 24-year-old Caucasian.

A Master Herald report says that the events will take place earlier than "Left 4 Dead 2," shortly after the zombie infestation started to spread. It is also said that there will be six campaigns: Crashland, Impasse, Early Destination, Cliff Hanger, Inquisitor Land, and No Mercy.

The first "Left 4 Dead" game was released in 2008 and "Left for Dead 2" was launched a year later. In the original game, the four characters – Bill, Louis, and Francis, and Zoey – traveled from Pennsylvania to Florida; and in the sequel, Coach, Ellis, Nick, and Rochelle traveled from Georgia to Louisiana. They had to survive the outbreak of a virus that was transforming people into zombie-like creatures.
