'Law & Order: SVU' season 18 spoilers, news: Donald Trump-esque episode not coming out until 2017

A "Law & Order: SVU" season 18 promo still. NBC

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" further delays its very controversial episode titled "Unstoppable" which is mined from Donald Trump's sexual harassment allegations.

The last time the installment was moved, the reason was presumably so it would not come before the national election last week that pitted Trump against Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. It was then scheduled for a Nov. 16 air date after it was pulled from the pipeline as it was originally tipped to be rolled out last Oct. 26.

This has reportedly earned the higher-ups in NBC some raised eyebrows from the cast and crew of the longest police procedural series. Some cite the businessman turned politician's previous ties with the TV network where he hosted the reality TV competition "The Apprentice" for quite a long time. People who want to just push forward with the episode argued that the story has long been finished as well as its production, so it is by no means rolling out just because of Trump. Despite this, another schedule shuffle has been done to "SVU" which leaves the one-hour story not airing until 2017, Variety reports.

While there were no reasons given for the multiple scheduling issues, one would assume that the latest delay has something to do with how the election turned out. Trump shockingly defeated Clinton and is now waiting to take over the White House after President Barack Obama finishes his two-term presidency in January 2017.

Even before this latest switch, franchise creator Dick Wolf did not actually want to discuss the much-anticipated story that was written by "SVU" showrunners Julie Martin and Rick Eid. The narrative sees guest star Gary Cole play a presidential hopeful who has gotten himself in a scandal after several women come forward accusing him of sexual harassment. Naturally, Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and the rest of her Manhattan squad investigate and go after the perpetrator.

Meanwhile, the show will be having a short hiatus again and will come back on Nov. 30 with the episode titled "Great Expectations."

"Law & Order: SVU" season 18 airs every Wednesday, 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
