Even with 17 seasons under its belt, it doesn't seem that the "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" will let go anytime soon. As a matter of fact, it appears that the newest season will reach a new level in terms of its police procedural theme with the rumored appearance of Vice President Joe Biden.
According to Carter Matt, their sources confirmed that the esteemed official will have a brief cameo appearance in the season 18 of this show. Biden would not even need any acting lessons, since he will be playing as himself on the undisclosed episode. The reason behind his participation in this show is to help in his efforts to end domestic violence, which is a recurring issue in the series. Additionally, this could also be because of his connections with the lead star Mariska Hargitay and the Joyful Heart Foundation.
Biden is done shooting this rumored episode, according to Vine Report, so it can be assumed that the show will tap other celebrities from time to time throughout the season 18's entirety. After all, this show is known for inviting over rising stars as well as established actors and other popular public figures to add more hype to the TV show.
Meanwhile, the Ecumenical News reports that the character played by Ice T, Fin Tutuola, will be plunged into a perplexing case the SVU squad will handle. It will be about a rape case with a former convict as the suspect. Tutuola was reportedly this man's arresting officer when he was arrested for his first crime, but if the current accusation turns out to be true, then he needs to be locked up for good.
"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" will have its 18th season premiere on Sept. 21, a Wednesday, at 9 p.m. EST on NBC. It is created by Dick Wolf and will have a new showrunner, Rick Eid.
