More rumors about an upcoming 4-inch iPhone inundate the web but newer reports now address the handset as iPhone 7c instead of iPhone 6c, as it is believed to be a variant of Apple's next generation handset rather than a belated version of its current flagship.
The handset is believed to be released in September, just before the standard iPhone 7 units will be launched. The report adds that pricing will allegedly range from $400 to$500. The info on the name purportedly originated from Foxconn, Apple's foremost manufacturer.
Meanwhile, several contrasting reports suggest that the next iteration of the "c" lineup will not be an iPhone 7c but an iPhone 6c. G For Games has word that Apple is making a significant aesthetic change for the new low-end model.
Apparently, the Cupertino-based company is forgoing the polycarbonate sheath of the device for a metal one but not the hues the "c" family is known for. Apple is not planning on losing the various color options offered by the lineup, so expect the metal casings to be dipped in various colors.
Being an economical version, the iPhone 7c/iPhone 6c is expected that specifications like the 3D Touch will not be integrated intp the handset as the company plans to keep those features reserved for the high-end versions of its mobile offerings.
What the device will get, however, is the powerful A9 processor, which will keep its performance on par with its premium brothers. According to Information Week, the ever-reliable KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that the purported 4-inch handset will sport a slightly curved front display instead of a flat one.
As for the Apple iPhone 7, a recent report suggested that it will be slimmest iPhone to date, with Apple ditching the 3.5mm headphone jack for Lightning connectors just to be able to get the device to that impressive thinness.
Meanwhile, G For Games claims that the iPhone 6c will be launched as early as January and not September.
