The finale of "Into the Badlands" season 1 managed to draw a total of 3.6 million viewers during its live broadcast and three straight days of playback. But is it enough to lure AMC to renew the series for season 2?

Based on the statistics after the season finale aired on Dec. 20, 2 million adults between ages 18-49 and 2.2 million adults between ages 25-54 watched the showed live. It was considered the highest time-shifting percentage gains of the series for the entire season.

Despite the 32% drop in the show's total viewers -- the show had an average of 5.3 million viewers for the entire season -- the season finale audience rating can still be considered a good sign. The show profited from the network's decision to air it in between the phenomenal post-apocalyptic series "The Walking Dead" and its recap show "The Talking Dead." This helped the show reach the third spot in the list of the best cable debut for the year after earning 8.2 million viewers on its premiere episode.

Apart from the show's renewal, fans of the show are also waiting to hear if Daniel Wu, Emily Beecham, Aramis Knight and Marton Csokas will reprise their roles in the martial arts series for another season.

According to cast member Edi Gathegi, there will be a lot of things to look forward to in the series if it gets a second season order.

"When we're world-building like this, I think the producers and the story can go in many different directions and then come back around," the actor told Zap2it. "I absolutely think there is a possibility that Quinn and Jacobee could work together many times — and many times keep trying to assassinate each other."

Gathegi also shared that he will reprise his role as Baron Jacobee if "Into the Badlands" gets a season 2 order from AMC.
