"Injustice 2" will be featuring new playable characters when it gets released next year. Another new feature to the game is the Gear System.

The Gear System is a loot dropping system that will reward players with character-specific costumes and equipment whether they win or lose a match. The items will not only customize the character's looks but will also alter its abilities by adding points on strength, speed, defense, health, or by bringing in new skills. Fans are now worried that the new system might affect the game's balance, and some players may become more powerful than the others. These powerful players will only get stronger because of the system.

Brian Goodman from NetherRealm Studios, the game developer, was able to explain to Eurogamer about the upcoming feature. Goodman said, "We anticipated what some of the hesitation might be from players and are developing intelligently to deliver something which will hopefully appeal to all of our fans, whether you're a hardcore fighting game enthusiast or a more casual fan."

"There's been a lot of discussion on how best to communicate this because we are, obviously, throwing a bit of a monkey wrench in the works as far as some fighting game purists might find. We're doing things to make sure people who want a pure fighting game can get that," he also added.

"Injustice 2" is said to have a mode where all the participants will be equal. Players can wear their loot, but the loot will only be there for aesthetic reasons and will not affect the statistics of the characters. Thus, things will be fair and square. Another mode is said to come along that will only enable strengths add-ons and nothing more. Players will then have to rely on other strategies since they are all equal in strength.

The Gear System's objective is to elevate competitive gameplay. It is a fact that in every game, there is always somebody who looks way cooler than everybody else.

"Injustice 2" is expected to arrive in 2017 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, Supergirl, Blue Beetle, Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Atrocitus, and Gorilla Grodd are some of the few playable DC characters in the upcoming game.
