'Indiana Jones 5' news: Harrison Ford to stick around for more installments

Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones LucasFilm

"Indiana Jones 5' is still far from hitting the big screen but fans can't hide their excitement especially now that more news is beginning to surface. The film is expected to be released by 2019, but it won't be the last in the series.

Harrison Ford will be back to reprise his iconic role as Dr.Henry Jones Walton Jr. or Indiana Jones, together with his bullwhip, fedora, satchel and leather jacket. The character is one of the greatest heroes in the cinematic universe, while his sense of humor, knowledge of many ancient civilizations and languages and fear of snakes endear him to fans.

Walt Disney Studios officially announced the upcoming project last March. Alan Horn, the chairperson of the company, said, "It's rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn't be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven [Spielberg]," Movies Cheat Sheet reported.

However, the decision to bring back the actor to the film was greeted with negativity, with some saying that he is too old for the role. Spielberg, who will take the helm again, responded by saying, "As Harrison matures, so does his character and yet he did so many of his own stunts in 'The Force Awakens,'" NY Daily News stated.

Spielberg added, "He keeps himself in such brilliant physical shape that I don't believe when 2018 comes around, which is when I'm slated to direct the fifth installment coming out in 2019, I think Harrison is going to be able do a lot of what the script is asking him to do."

The director also mentioned that the upcoming movie will not be the last either.  Ford will make it out alive at the end, which also eased the fans .

Additionally, George Lucas will take part in the film, just like the good old days, probably not as the story creator for the past films of the series, but as an executive producer. He will still have a say after all.

The creative team will comprise of several veterans in the movie industry. Aside from Lucas, the movie will also include David Koepp, Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall. For the music, it will have the touch of the legendary composer John Williams.

"Indiana Jones 5" scheduled to be released on July 19, 2019.
