People used to carry their files with them through tiny flash drives. But now, a small-sized stick can do more than just store files—it can provide a PC experience.

Joining Dell, Google and Intel is Lenovo, with its new stick computer Ideacentre 300 Stick.

The Lenovo Stick 300 was unveiled last week, becoming an addition to the trendy stick computers. It can offer the same performance as Intel's version.

Jun Ouyang, Lenovo Worldwide Desktop and Visuals vice president and general manager said that they have looked into the mobile needs of businessmen, families and travelers and realized that coming up with an affordable and portable solution would definitely benefit all mobile device users.

Ideacentre 300 measures 15mm thin and is powered by Intel's Atom Z3735F processor. It carries 2GB of memory and can store 32G of files.

It will start shipping in July and by then, the device will run with Windows 8.1, but will go through an a Windows 10 upgrade by July 29. It also features WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity.

The device works with an HDMI-compatible TV or monitor and in order to get an ultimate PC experience, users simply need a wireless keyboard and a mouse.

Lenovo officials also said that the stick can perform a wide variety of functions including Web browsing, content creation and video chatting.

Lenovo's pc stick may offer the same power as Intel's, but the most notable difference for Ideacentre 300 is its price. According to Microsoft News, Lenovo's pc stick will start at $129, but with a Windows OS it will start at $149, while the Linux OS will be sold at $89.

"Our goal with the Ideacentre Stick 300 is to give those users a sense of freedom and enhanced mobility, while packing a serious punch in a small device," Ouyang said.

Apart from Lenovo, Archos also joined the scene with its Stick PC, which will be sold at $99, according to reports.
