Android 6.0 Marshmallow is ready for the HTC One M8. Users who own the Google Play Edition of the handset can now jump from Android Lollipop to what the latest Google can offer, making the smartphone the first from HTC to get updated.
According to GSM Arena, the rollout of the software is being taken care of by its source itself Google, which is why the distribution of the update was at lightning speed. At the moment, only few handsets are getting bumped up to Marshmallow. Majority of handsets with the firmware are new releases.
HTC One M8 (GPE) owners can go ahead and switch to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The update weighs 450MB so a stable Wi-Fi connection is needed to download it. As with any software installation, users have to make sure that the handset is juiced up to at least 50 percent so that the process goes smooth.
For those who haven't been notified or prompted to install the software, users can always check the availability of the update via the Settings and Software Update sections of the handset. Nonetheless, it shouldn't take long for the new Android OS to arrive.
As for what users can expect of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, there aren't any visual modifications so the Material Design feel will still be backdropping the handset. It also promises to improve the stability and performance of the HTC One M8 (GPE) and bring in bug fixes.
Android Pay works well with the software and it is made compatible with the USB-C port too. The new energy-saving feature called Doze integrated in the firmware prolongs the battery life of the phone.
More HTC devices should be enjoying the software soon. The update is already being prepared for HTC One M9 as well as the HTC One M8 with the Sense UI. These should be the last updates for this year as the Taiwan-based tech firm moves on to fill in 10 more devices of the software in 2016.
