There is no doubt that Grand Theft Auto 5 has been a huge success and this was further boosted with reports that the game has sold over 52 million disc-based copies in the UK, making it the third highest selling game across all five formats.
The figures were revealed in its latest financial report for the quarter ending March 21, 2015.
With this, it marks a 7 million improvement from the previous reported figures back in February which bared that the game had already sold about 45 million. GTA V is available for play on the PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and the PC.
And while the game has obviously shattered some records, some bit of disappointing news may snag the feat for the ones who are awaiting for the supposed Story Mode DLC.
In an interview with Take Two, it seems that CEO Strauss Zelnick has forgotten about the said feature. In fact he goes on to say that there were no discussions made tied up with the story mode DLC, or so he says.
These pronouncements catches GTA V players by surprise, considering there were already initial reports that there would be additions to extend the stories of Michael, Franklin and Trevor back in 2013.
The funny thing about it is that the announcement was made by Rockstar Games themselves. That article can be found here.
The launch was never really formally made though it could be possible that Zelnick may have overlooked or misspoke about the supposed feature, a small glimmer of hope for the GTA V fanatics out there.
Regardless, it is without question that GTA V has been a big hit with the games out there. The figures don't like and you have to wonder how those sales volume numbers could change if they count the digital versions purchased.
