Things are not looking good for Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) and his friends in the two-part finale of "Grimm" season 5.
According to the latest teaser for the upcoming episodes, titled "The Beginning of the End Parts 1 and 2," the finale will end in a shocking disaster, which is why the show decided not to feature the clips in the second part of the finale.
In the trailer, Captain Sean Renard (Sasha Roiz) celebrates his victory as Portand's newest mayor by visiting the police bureau to give a piercing look at Nick.
It was revealed in the previous episodes that Renard was working for the Black Claw, an underground group of Wesen which aims to rule the world. But the Grimm warned Renard that he will never succeed.
But can Nick continue to fight against Renard and help the Hadrian's Wall's objective of stopping the Black Claw if Adalind Schade (Claire Coffee) and their son Kelly remain under the ruthless Wesen group's control?
Based on the sneak peek shown by TV Guide, Black Claw's leader, Conrad Bonaparte (Shaun Toub), will do everything that he can to encourage Nick to side with them.
"He is a powerful man and he knows it. It's a dangerous combination when someone knows it. He's playing a chess game. He's putting the board in front of them and trying to get as many good pieces as possible," Toub told TV Guide to explain what his character can do just to get the Grimm on their side. "Bonaparte is basically trying to recruit Nick because of his connections. He's using Adalind as well. He's trying to recruit as many of them as possible in order to put together a group and a source of power that can control."
Aside from the Black Claw, Nick must also be careful in dealing with Diana (Hannah R. Loyd), Adalind's daughter with Renard, as the young girl begins to show how dangerous her dark powers can be when she uses it.
The two-part finale of "Grimm" season 5 airs Friday, May 20, on NBC.
