Google Nexus 7 2016 release date, specs: tablet rumored to arrive in time for the holidays

It has been over a month since Google released their Android smartphones dubbed as the Pixel and the Pixel XL. So far both the iterations have been received positively by consumers, which is why expectation for its supposed tablet cousin, the Google Nexus 7 2016, is quite high.

Unfortunately, Google is still keeping their silence as to when the device will eventually see the light of day. A lot of tech aficionados were expecting that if it will not be launched at least some word about it will be said. Unfortunately, that did not happen. So now, fans are left with no choice but to scour online for clues as to what the tablet will bring to the table.

The device is rumored to be in the same vein as the Google Pixel C; its software is to be built by Google but will be manufactured by HTC, just like its smartphone cousins. However, another rumor is that the Google Nexus 7 will be made by Chinese telecommunication equipment and services company Huawei instead. The Shenzhen-based giant is, unfortunately, also keeping their mouth shut about the speculation.

In a statement sent to GSMArena, Huawei said, "We don't comment on future products, as a matter of policy. Huawei is committed to creating the world's most compelling and innovative devices, offering an exceptional performance and outstanding user experience. We are proud to have worked with Google, which is strong in innovation, on the Nexus 6P and will continue to collaborate in the future, such as our support for Daydream, the recently-announced platform for high performance mobile VR."

The price and release date of the Google Nexus 7 2016 are both still mysteries. The cost will more likely be clarified once the specs of the device are announced; until then, it will be difficult to pinpoint what price range it will be falling in. As for the roll out, the latest rumors are suggesting that it may actually be coming just before the year ends. It will be a good time to launch the device as it coincides with the holiday shopping season.
