"God of War" fans are hoping to see the the fourth installment of the game at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2016, which is set to happen this week.

Shinobi602, who has predicted unannounced games before and has given accurate information on them, also mentioned on the latest episode of Video Game Sophistry that there will be a "big coming out party for God of War 4," Gamespot reported.

There were several reports that mentioned a post by the user on the NeoGaf board last week, where it is stated, "The question isn't whether God of War will be there (it will), the question is...is Kratos the main character?"

This post is in line with earlier rumors that the fourth iteration of the game will not be featuring Kratos as the protagonist but possibly as a side character, or even as the main villain. No information is available about the hero in the game, but he or she is believed to have red markings like the former.  There is also a possiblity that the game may come out with two playable characters.

It is also speculated that the upcoming game will now shift to Norse mythology and leave the Greek gods and goddesses. This was based on the last game, "God of War 3," in which Kratos killed almost all the main Greek gods and sacrificed himself to save humanity. But the closing credits revealed that he was able to survive and walked away alive.

Previously, an alleged concept art surfaced online; it did add fuel to the fire but was immediately taken down. Another sign that fans saw was the 50-person job opening notice at Sony's Santa Monica Studio, which made them speculate that it is connected to their favorite game, The Bitbag reported.

Nothing has been declared by the game publisher nor by the game studio, so fans should consider these as rumors. Official news may arrive within the next couple of days.
