After Ubisoft officially unveiled "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands" at E3 2015, the game developer revealed that the open world tactical shooter game will have several beta runs before its release on March 7, 2017.
During the company's Q2 financial presentation, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot revealed that the game developers are preparing to hold a series of closed and open betas for the 10th installment of the "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon" franchise before the game's release date.
According to Guillemot, the betas are meant to introduce the gameplay of "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands" before it can be shipped in the market. "We expect in the next quarter to do some open betas and closed betas that will help a lot [for] players to actually know what the game is and what it can become," the company CEO stated in the earning's call that was published by VG247.
This could mean that Guillemot's statement is teasing that the series of betas for the game will be out sometime in January until just before the game comes out in March. This could give them enough time to get feedbacks for beta participants to correct the issues before the release date.
Guillemot also claimed that there is a lot to look forward to when the game finally comes out. According to the Ubisoft CEO, "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands" could be a revolutionary game. He also said that it can be compared to the same trend as "Tom Clancy's The Division," which came out in March this year.
Meanwhile, other reports claimed that the upcoming "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands" will have a map three times bigger than "GTA 5" from Rockstar Games.
The game is also reportedly leaving the space-age setting where the events of "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter" happened, and return to the original setting of "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon."
The game is expected to come out on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
