'Gears of War: Ultimate Edition' update news: Players can now adjust frame rates and disable v-sync on Windows 10

"Gear of War: Ultimate Edition" for Windows 10 was recently updated to maximize the Universal Windows Platform or UWP. Players will now have the option to adjust frame rates and turn off v-sync.

Developer The Coalition is taking advantage of the new UWP gaming features and brings in what the players have been begging for for quite some time now. Gamers can now adjust the frame rate or FPS of "Gear of War: Ultimate Edition" that matches their own system and not just the options set by the game itself. Players can now opt for the highest setting that their machine can handle. This added feature will, hopefully, resolve the tearing issue on game.

Additionally, players can also disable v-sync. This feature was turned on by default and there was no option to disable. This will disable the limitation imposed by the refresh rate of their respective display monitors. However, a Windows 10 update is required to access this option.

Features included in the patch are:

  • Video options now include anisotropic filtering setting
  • Players can now enable and disabled the FPS counter

The latest patch also included stability fixes:

  • Fixed a post-processing bug
  • Fixed an issue with PSO

Thurrot mentioned that the unlocked frame rate support was only available on Win32 games for Windows 10.

Microsoft added that "Forza Motorsport 6: Apex" will also be receiving a similar update within the next couple of days, which is in connection to the new features of their Universal Windows Platform. More DirectX 12 and GPU-related updates are also expected to arrive on the PC gaming community to take advantage of the new features on Windows 10, GameSpot reported.

"Gears of War: Ultimate Edition" is a remake of the original game but has been updated to produce better graphics and audio quality. It is currently available for the Xbox One and Windows PC.
