'Gears of War 4' beta news: Players hitting level 20 are in for a surprise

Gears of War 4 Amazon/Xbox

"Gears of War 4" is about to open up its gates to commence the multiplayer beta. Publisher The Coalition recently announced that rewards will be available for participating beta players and the only requirement is for them to reach level 20.

The game developer wants its fans to be rewarded for the hard work they have done for the game and, hopefully, for the company to receive feedback in order to tweak it even further before its scheduled release. The company will be giving out an exclusive vintage Kait rewards pack that includes vintage weapon skins for the lancer and pistol weapons, a vintage Kait emblem, and a unique bounty card that offers double XP.

The rewards were announced on their Twitter account, and fans have reacted positively. Many players are looking forward to their rewards. However, it is not clear yet if the said rewards will be given during the multiplayer beta test or when the game is officially launched.

The "Gear of War 4" multiplayer beta early access will begin on April 18 for Xbox One and PC players who have played "The Gears of War Ultimate Edition" on or before April 11. The servers are then scheduled to close down on April 24. An open beta for Xbox Live Gold users will then run from April 25 to May 1, GameSpot reported.

"Gears of War 4" is set 25 years after "Gears of War 3" and involves JD Fenix, Marcus's son, battling it out with a brand new enemy. The latest installment in the "Gears of War" series will let players use three different characters -- aside from JD, there is also Kait and Del.

The upcoming game will be featuring new close-combat moves and players will be able to perform combat-knife execution styles. An arsenal of new weapons will also be coming with the game, which include the Buzzkill and Dropshop.

"Gear of War 4" is scheduled to be released on Oct. 11, exclusively for Xbox One. The game is currently available for pre-orders on Amazon for US$60.
