'Friday the 13th' reboot cast, spoilers: New film to center on Jason Voorhees's origin story

Jason Voorhees' past will be revisited in the planned "Friday the 13th" reboot, according to film producer Brad Fuller.

The film producer recently talked to The Reel World to discuss the upcoming "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows" film. But the conversation eventually turned to the planned reboot of the classic horror movie franchise.

Fuller revealed that the new "Friday the 13th" project involving a found-footage twist had been going around for years. But according to the movie producer, they will not feature the found-footage script.

"There was a lot of found-footage scripts that they wanted us to make and I was not going to do that because I don't think that can exist in Jason Voorhees' world," Fuller stated.

The script for the planned "Friday the 13th" film will be written by "Prisoners" writer Aaron Guzikowski, and Fuller has nothing but praises for the writer's work.

According to Fuller, Guzikowski came up with a lot of great characters in his story that will help movie goers understand why Jason Voorhees became the notorious killer. This means that the upcoming reboot will deal with the character's back story.

However, the producer shared that they are planning to feature Jason's origin with a twist.

"Origin-ish, but it's an origin that no one has seen before. Obviously Pamela's there, but it's a little bit different from what you've seen before," Fuller said.

Fans of the franchise could remember that Jason's mother Pamela was the real antagonist in the original "Friday the 13th" film that was released in 1980. This could mean that her involvement in the reboot will give a new light regarding the mother-son relationship.

Fuller is still mum about the cast of the upcoming "Friday the 13th" reboot, but fans should expect to hear more details about the film's development in the coming days.
