AJ Lee may be out of the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) scene after retiring from active duty but it looks like the former WWE Divas champion is keeping herself busy on other stuff.

Lee revealed at National Dog Day that she has pledged to support PAWS Chicago to do her share in stopping senseless killings of homeless cats and dogs. Aside from PAWS, she will also work with Beautiful Disaster clothing for the same cause.

Lee made her new project known via Twitter.

To those who are unaware, Lee is the wife of another former WWE celebrity CM Punk or Phil Brooks. Punk left the WWE ahead of AJ Lee due to various issues tied up with his health and Lee followed several months later.

Lee's most glaring achievement is that she holds the record as the longest reigning WWE Divas champion pegged at 295 days. She achieved the feat in January 2014. Her reign would however come to a close in April of the same year when she lost the title in an impromptu match against Paige.

Lee had just successfully defended her title at a 14-woman match in Wrestlemania 30. She lost the title the following night on WWE RAW to Paige.

AJ Lee's last match in the WWE was during Wrestlemania 31 when she and Paige teamed up against the Bella Twins, Nikki and Brie. The WWE announced AJ Lee's retirement last April 3.

To date, Nikki Bella holds the second longest reign as WWE Divas champion at 276. And from the looks of it, the WWE is grooming Nikki to break Lee's record.

Despite being out of the WWE scene and before word of her new cause came out, Lee is believed to be busy supporting her husband in his mixed martial arts (MMA) aspirations. Although there is no word yet on when Punk will make his debut, Lee has been spotted among the supporters behind him.
