'Five Nights at Freddy's' movie release date: Series creator Scott Cawthon confirms upcoming film still in production stage

Five Nights at Freddy's 4 - Chica Scott Games

"Five Nights at Freddy's" creator, Scott Cawthon, has assured fans that the movie adaptation of the game is still alive and is not just collecting dust. He mentioned that the film is still in the production stage, with its script still being worked on.

Fans of the horror game have been looking forward to the game's movie adaptation since it was confirmed more than a year ago. However, information on the upcoming film has been so scarce that a fan was not able to hold on any longer and directly asked its creator for any news about the project.

A user named Walkerbait asked Cawthon via the "Friday Nights at Freddy's 4" Steam page last May 6, "FNAF Movie (still in development)? So how long has it been since we had any word on the FNAF movie? Wonder how that's going. "

The creator immediately replied a few minutes after, saying, "The script is still being worked on. The people involved are taking the movie seriously, which is definitely a good thing!"

Deadline previously reported that Gil Kenan ("Monster House" and "City of Ember") will be directing the movie and is writing the script together with Tyler Burton Smith. Back in July, he started updating fans with several Instagram posts. However, it went dry after his last post in August, which shows a picture of a hallway that was designed to look like a 1980s video game arcade, which could possibly be a clue on the inside of Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria. No further updates are available from other social media accounts of the people on the production team.

The Bitbag added that Cawthon could possibly use "FNaF:Sister Location's" female animatronics and game location in the upcoming movie since the script is still being worked on. It also seems that the upcoming game has surpassed the pace of the movie production -- it has already released its first trailer.

For now, "Friday Nights at Freddy's" fans may have to wait a little longer before the movie gets released.
