It looks like things are heating up between "The Vampire Diaries" alum Nina Dobrev and "Whiplash" actor Austin Stowell. The two, along with Dobrev's friends, went to watch her movie "The Final Girls" at the Los Angeles Film Festival Gala on Tuesday, June 16.

An onlooker told Us Weekly that Stowell stayed close to the 26-year old actress while walking the red carpet. Dobrev reportedly introduced Stowell to her costars and held his hand.

"He called Nina 'babe'," the eyewitness said, "and gently put an arm around her waist."

People Magazine reported that the actress sat next to the 30-year old actor during the screening. The actress told the magazine that she was nervous that she brought all her friends along.

"A lot of my friends came today, and we're going to sit and watch it," she said. "They're going to be the harshest critics of anyone, ever."

Dobrev also said that now that she's done playing Elena Gilbert on the hit The CW series, she's looking forward to doing more films.

"I'm going to try doing film and doing different kinds of roles maybe. Hopefully an action, drama, period piece," she added.

Aside from her career, things seem to be flourishing in Dobrev's dating life as well. She and Stowell attended Jaime King's baby shower together last Sunday and she even shared a photo booth shot of the two of them at the celebration.

On June 19, the pair also attended Seth McFarlane's star-studded bash for his new comedy, "Ted 2," at his Beverly Hills home. An Us Weekly source said that Stowell, along with other guests such as Ben Savage, Debby Ryan, and Alex Borstein were driven up to McFarlane's pad in golf carts after checking in with the valet. Dobrev was reportedly chatting with "Twilight" actor Robert Pattinson and a group of friends but stayed close to Stowell for most of the night.
