'Final Fantasy XV' news: Game's rumored PC version to be system-specific and not direct port of console version?

Although more details are coming out about the upcoming "Final Fantasy XV," some fans are still waiting for confirmation of other things, such as a PC version of the game. While not directly confirming it, Square Enix may have been hinting that it's possible.

According to Gematsu, in a recent interview, "Final Fantasy XV" game director Hajime Tabata admitted he is certainly open to the idea. However, if Tabata will have his way, he would like to make an original showcase version for the PC and not a direct port of the console title.

"I have in mind a version of 'Final Fantasy XV' that is more technically developed," Tabata said.

The game director added that a new "Final Fantasy XV" version for the PC done from scratch will certainly work in favor of the hardcore fans, as the new version will most likely highlight details that are not conveyed in the console version.

Tabata continued, "This version could incorporate things that we were forced to abandon because of the limitations of home consoles. With the PC, this would be an opportunity to release a version far superior in terms of quality and tech. That said, if we choose to develop this project, the development will start from scratch by doing research of what would be the best technology to use. It might not be a simple port of the console version."

A PC version for "Final Fantasy XV," however, means that it will have to be released later in the year or at least early 2017, since there are still continuing workloads for the game. Aside from a possible PC version, expansion content is also being considered for the upcoming "Final Fantasy XV" title. According to PCGamesN, Square Enix is expecting to announce DLC details in late summer since "Final Fantasy XV" has already been confirmed to have a September release in the West.
