The sequel to the online character RPG "Dragon Ball Xenoverse" is set to be released late next month. As a follow-up, it is confirmed that "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" is a vastly-improved title, with more than 80 confirmed characters to date.

According to Saiyan Island, a new leaked image of the character roster reveals that there are at least 87 playable characters for "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2." Although the image only showcases at least 60 known fighters, the roster screen has scroll arrows on its sides, hinting that more characters may be revealed. The character roster screen shows some of the expected characters in the game, like the normal and different Saiyan forms of Goku, different character stages for Gohan, the timeline characters for Trunks, and other Z warriors like Krillin, Piccolo, and Yamcha.

However, although some of the characters are already playable in the first game, some of the fighters from the first "Dragon Ball Xenoverse" game are absent on the roster, like Omega Shenron, Videl, and Frieza's first form. The industry follower surmises that the image came from a beta build and that it may still change prior to the official release of "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2."

Aside from the confirmed characters ported from the original game, new fighters are likely to be added as expansion content for "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2." Meanwhile, the new fighter list already includes confirmed new characters for the sequel like the two forms of Frieza's brother Cooler, the other Saiyan Turtles, the Majin form of Vegeta, and Janemba.

"Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" is scheduled to launch on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in North America on Oct. 25, and in Europe on Oct. 28. Prior to the global launch, a closed beta will commence on Oct. 8, while an open beta will go live on Oct. 14. The beta versions will only be available for the PlayStation 4 platform.
