"Downton Abbey" is almost coming to an end and fans around the world can be heard crying their hearts out.

The last ever episode of the hit British drama will see viewers off with a Christmas special. It seems fitting that they say goodbye with a bit of cheer.

After six seasons and 52 wonderful episodes, the period drama has released the trailer for their holiday special, which is also their series finale.

The trailer features some tear-jerking moments, which will surely give viewers goosebumps. A rendition of "Auld Lang Syne" is harmoniously sung by the servants before they move on with their lives, along with the aristocrats.

The preview shows George (Zac and Oliver Baker) asking Thomas (Rob James-Collier) to stay, but the latter's decision of leaving Downton seems final.

Mrs. Crawley (Penelope Wilton) and Violet (Maggie Smith) are enjoying themselves during the holiday season and wondering what the future might hold.

Even Anna (Joanne Froggatt) and Bates (Brendan Coyle), who did not always get along, looked quite happy. Christmas, after all, is a beautiful time--a time to set differences aside and enjoy the little things.

It truly is ironic that such a special and joyous time will be met with a tearful goodbye. And it looks like the fans are not the only ones shedding a tear or two.

Michelle Dockery, who portrayed Lady Mary, shared with The Telegraph a few things about filming the period drama's final episode.

"I didn't expect to feel so sad. But I think it was a smart move to end the show where we did. At the wrap party, the producer did a speech and said, 'now let's party like it's 1925!' My feet have only just recovered from all the dancing," she gushed.

But perhaps the most moving line of all that may very well close the show came from Carson (Jim Carter), who says to Grantham (Hugh Bonneville), "The world is a different place, my lord. And Downton Abbey must change with it."

"Downton Abbey" season 6 will be aired in the U.S. on Jan. 3, 2016. The series finale will premiere on Mar. 6, 2016.
