In a couple of days, season 9 of "Doctor Who" will finally debut to bring a season filled with brand new adventures and creature encounters. Could the coming season be the most intriguing and mysterious season to date?

Probably the first thing that comes to one's mind is where exactly the good doctor (Peter Capaldi) could be. Has he gone into hiding? If so, why or from whom?

It seems that such a twist is one of many plots in store for the season premiere, which will take place on Sept. 19 via BBC as the ninth season kicks off with the first of a two-part installment. The pilot episode will be entitled "The Magician's Apprentice," followed by "The Witch's Familiar."

Aside from Capaldi and Jenna-Louise Coleman, who plays Clara Oswald, the coming season will feature a curious cast of guest stars.

The list includes Maisie Williams, Ian Conningham, Murray McArthur, Barnaby Kay, John Voce, Struan Rodger, Jemma Redgrave, Kelly Hunter, Clare Higgins, Jaye Griffiths, Daniel Hoffmann-Gill, Jami Reid-Quarrell, Aaron Neil, India Ria Amarteifio, Joey Price, Dasharn Anderson, Harki Bhambra, and Demi Papaminas.

Then there is, of course, the return of Michelle Gomez who will appear in the two-part season premiere to reprise her role as Missy.

Aside from Gomez, there will be other familiar faces making a return in season 9 as well. The other returning guest stars include Jemma Redgrave, Kelly Hunter, Clare Higgins, and Jaye Griffiths.

So aside from the talent-laden cast, what else is there to look forward to for "Doctor Who" season 9?

The Daleks will be back in circulation and likely to cross paths with the Doctor and Clara. Both could be in for quite a battle once they find themselves in Missy, a place flooded with Daleks.

New monsters could be ahead, as hinted by Coleman, and may be seen when the season premieres in the coming days.

These and more are in store for "Doctor Who" fans. Season 9 of "Doctor Who" will premiere this Saturday, Sept. 19, at 9 p.m. EST on BBC America.
