A familiar face will return to torment the Time Lord when "Doctor Who" returns for season 10.

Actress Michelle Gomez confirmed that she will reprise her role as Doctor Who's (Peter Capaldi) evil nemesis Missy during the weekend's MegaCon held in Orlando, Florida, as announced by a tweet from Doctor Who News.

The character was last seen surrounded by Daleks in a cliffhanger during the episode titled "The Witch's Familiar" in season 9, where she announced that she has a bright idea. She was not able to give an elaborate explanation about the idea that she was talking about. This led to speculations that Missy will drop the explanation upon her return in season 10.

Meanwhile, showrunner Steven Moffatt offered more information about the Time Lord's newest companion named Bill in an interview with Doctor Who Magazine. According to Moffatt, the character portrayed by actress Pearl Mackie comes from the current times, contrary to the earlier speculations that she was from an earlier time period.

"She's from now, yeah. I know there are rumours about her being from the 1980s, but she isn't. She's just wearing what young people are wearing now," the showrunner revealed. "I know that, because Pearl chose her outfit herself."

Moffatt also teased that the first encounter between the Time Lord and Bill will be very different compared to the scenarios of the first meeting between him and his companions in the past.

"How we first encounter her, and how we first encounter the Doctor next year, is very unusual for us. We'll introduce her in the first episode of 2017, and she'll run throughout that series," the showrunner revealed.

This could mean that Bill will not be introduced in the upcoming Christmas special of "Doctor Who" this year.

"Doctor Who" season 10 is expected to return to BBC next year.
