'Deadpool 2' release date news: Ed Skrein wants to see The Taskmaster challenge Deadpool in 2018

Ed Skrein wants to see another Marvel character to join the fun in the upcoming "Deadpool" sequel.

Speaking with IGN early this month, the actor, who portrayed the role of Ajax in the first movie early this year, said that he wants his personal favorite character to join "Deadpool 2."

"The Taskmaster is just you know, so fun" the actor said. "To see Taskmaster and Wade Wilson/Deadpool together is so funny – watching them play in the Daniel Way collection they have these incredible riffs. He's a mercenary like Wade Wilson but he's a mercenary without morals. The only redeeming factor of Deadpool is his morals, right? Taskmaster does not have those morals so he back-stabs and stuff like that."

The actor also revealed that Taskmaster is a very cool and funny character, and he is amazed at how he can imitate just about anyone's fighting style.

"If he fought Deadpool and started whipping things around and doing all the flips, and then he fought Wolverine? It would be phenomenal -- he's an incredible character."

Skrein's character could also be considered an amazing villain. Based on the Marvel comic books series, Ajax was a seasoned government operative who went through the same cybernetic enhancement that changed Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds). But Deadpool managed to kill him at the end of the movie.

While Ajax may have ended his terror during the blockbuster hit film, he will be replaced by an equally vicious villain, Cable. But the casting for the upcoming character is still underway.

At the moment, only Reynolds has confirmed his return in the film, in the titular role of Deadpool/Wade Wilson. But his co-star Morena Baccarin is also expected to reprise her role as Wilson's girlfriend Vanessa as well.

Tim Miller also confirmed to return to the director's chair for the upcoming sequel, while scriptwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick will pen the script for the film, which is speculated to be released in Jan. 12, 2018.
