'Dark Souls III' DLC release date news: E3 2016 may reveal more details on expansion packs

The "Dark Souls" series is one of the most successful games in the role-playing genre. Fans are truly enjoying the third installment in the franchise and are looking forward to its DLC. Information about the expansion packs is expected at the upcoming upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3.

"Dark Souls III" fans are expecting two big DLC packs, the first of which will be released by fall of this year, while the second one will land sometime early next year. This news was shared by the game director, Hidetaka Miyazaki, during last month's interview with GNN Gamer, a Taiwanese gaming website.

This information also coincides with the leaked information back in February about the game's season pass prior to its announcement. The season pass is said to feature two DLC packs for US$25.

The Neogaf user who translated the interview with Miyazaki also mentioned in the posting that there was a mistranslation from Google Translate, and there should only be two DLC packs and not three.

Speculations within the community say that the first DLC might be released earlier, and this is what the fans are expecting to be announced by its developer, From Software, during the E3 2016.

In other news, game publisher Bandai Namco has rolled out Patch 1.07 for the game last week. The latest patch contains several fixes, tweaks and improvements, which include the following:

  • Darkmoon and Blue Sentinels covenants matching were improved
  • Password matching rate is improved
  • Great Shield category is now more efficient
  • Magic Spell category FP consumption is adjusted
  • Weapons efficiency were also adjusted, which includes the Dragon Slayer's Axe, Crescent Axe, Dark Drift, Washing Pole, and Moonlight Great Sword
  • Shield penetration rate was fixed
  • Stamina attack of some weapon categories were alsofixed

"Dark Souls III" was originally released last April 12 for the for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Wndows PC.
