'Dark Souls 3' release date news: First DLC should land in the fall; title is in the Steam Summer Sale

"Dark Souls 3" fans are expecting its first DLC to land this fall. There will be two DLC packs planned for the game. Enthusiasts who are planning to get the game can take the opportunity now, with discounts at the ongoing Steam Summer Sale.

Developer From Software's president, Hidetaka Miyazaki, already confirmed that two expansion packs will arrive in the game, and the second one will drop in early 2017. Fans can expect new maps, bosses, enemies and additional weapon and armor sets. The game will also be the last in the series, though the director is not totally closing the door for future projects. The development team would also like to try other things, while Miyazaka personally wants to do a mech-themed game.

Meanwhile, Steam is offering a huge discount on "Dark Souls 3." Fans can enjoy a 25 percent discount on the standard edition, while the deluxe edition has a 17 percent discount and includes the game and its season pass.

Many other games are included at Steam's Summer Sale, and some of the top sellers are "Doom," Grand Theft Auto V," "Fallout 4," The Witcher Wild Hunt," "Rise of the Tomb Raider," "Rocket League," and "Just Cause 3," just to name a few. The promo will run until July 4.

"Dark Souls 3" is an action role-playing game (RPG), where players need to defeat the undead who have risen after the First Flame died out. Players can the decide to help and regenerate the fire that was out or let the darkness take over the Kingdom of Lotharic.

The game is considered to be one of the best RPGs available and has already bagged several accolades, which the include Gamescom Best RPG award 2015 and 35 more awards and nominations during the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2015.

Fans can expect more news about the upcoming DLC packs in the months to come.

"Dark Souls 3" is currently available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
