"Daredevil" season 3 is said to feature Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) leading The Defenders, which will fight against more powerful foes in New York. But fans will have to wait for a while, since it will reportedly not come out until 2018.
There is no doubt that Marvel's "Daredevil" captured the hearts of the fans and the first two seasons quickly became a popular Netflix original series. However, it has to make way for other shows planned by the entertainment company, BGR reported.
Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos made the announcement during the Television Critics Association press tour. Sarandos revealed that "Luke Cage" will start streaming by Sept. 30. By 2017, "Iron Fist" and "The Defenders" will go on air, as Marvel and Netflix's commitment to provide two shows a year. Fans are now confident that they will then see season 3 of "Daredevil" by 2018, as well as "Jessica Jones." It was also confirmed that the company revealed that "The Punisher" is already in the works.
IGN also asked Sarandos if they have any plans on increasing the number of Marvel shows to five, and he replied, "I doubt that we could produce at the quality that they produce at that speed. But we're gonna try to make them quicker so we can get less downtime between them."
Movie News Guide stated that fans will definitely see Murdock when "The Defenders" goes on air for the first time. It is rumored that he will be taking the leadership in an alliance among Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. The Punisher may also appear on the series.
Very little is known on what will happen when "Daredevil" season 3 airs, but the previous season showed a few cliffhanger scenes. Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) and Murdock parted ways, and the latter will now work with Jeri Hogarth (Carrie-Anne Moss). Hogarth is also Jessica Jones's friend.
The Hand was also seen before the season ended. Fans are speculating that after Elektra (Elodie Yung) dies, because of Stick, The Hand will dig her up from her grave and will revive her.
"Daredevil" season 3 is expected to be back on air by 2018.
