'Criminal Minds' season 11 spoilers: Guest stars, synopsis

Marisol Nichols in season 11 episode 2 titled "The Witness" CBS Official

"Criminal Minds" is set to come back with several familiar faces to be featured in the coming episodes.

TVLine confirmed that Marisol Nichols ("NCIS," "24") will be back to assist the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU). Nichols first shared the news on Twitter on Tuesday.

The actress will reprise her role as the Los Angeles-based Agent Natalie Colfax to help Hotch (Thomas Gibson) and the team solve a case. Natalie first appeared in the series in October.

The case that she will be working on involves women who are discovered dead inside their homes, TV Line reported. The BAU thinks that the unsub could be someone who is trusted by each of the victims.

The episode that Nichols will be in is the season's 15th episode.

Another familiar face set to join the popular crime drama series is Aubrey Plaza from "Parks and Recreation." The actress will make an appearance in the midseason premiere, episode 11 titled "Entropy," and she will play as Spencer Reid's (Matthew Gray Gubler) new love interest.

According to TV Line, Plaza takes the role of Cat Adams, who goes out on a date with BAU genius Reid, but their date doesn't go as planned. Cat then pulls a gun on Reid amidst their date and she reveals that she knows he is an FBI agent.

They play a battle of wits and Reid is forced to think quickly to save himself and the people dining inside the restaurant with them.

More spoilers on the coming episodes continue to surface. CarterMatt gathered that in episode 12, titled "Drive", Hotch's team will be heading over to Boston, where dead bodies are discovered in public areas.

The team's lead points to a cab or a ride-sharing service, which all victims used before they died.

Catch the return of "Criminal Minds" season 11 on Jan. 13, Wednesday, at 9 p.m. EST on CBS.
