'Constantine 2' release date rumors: Will Keanu Reeves come back in the rumored sequel?

It's been more than 11 years since Warner Bros. Pictures released its DC occult detective action film "Constantine," and it looks like the Internet is clamoring over reports of a sequel.

Rumors of "Constantine 2" have been making rounds over the Internet with posts on online platforms and social media websites suggesting that the original action film would get a sequel. An image captioned "Constantine 2 Confirmed" has been circulating all over social media site 9gag recently, while tweets about a "Constantine" sequel has been getting a dozen of posts on Twitter for the past few days.

Though Warner has not issued a confirmation for the film just yet, it seems like the online community is getting riled up over rumors of "Constantine 2" in the works, with a few reports  suggesting the return of original "Constantine" actor, Keanu Reeves. Though Lauren Shuler Donner, the producer of the original film, wants to see Reeves in the rumored sequel, fans have been expressing desire in having another actor play the role since Reeves hardly looked like the original Constantine from the DC "Hellblazer" comics.

However, last year, Cinema Blend reported that Donner had gone on an interview with IESB to talk about the Constantine sequel and indicated that Reeves would definitely reprise the role of Constantine.

"Yes, with Keanu [Reeves]. We have been working with a team of writers to come up with a story and yeah, you will," the producer had confirmed.

Donner has no idea, however, when the film would see release. Apparently the film has hit some kind of roadblock in production with the director doing work on another project.

"Our movie is out to a director that is filming. Understandably, he cannot take the time to read the script because he's filming, but he wants to, he has expressed a desire to make the movie and we very much want him to, so you tend to want to wait for that, you know," Donner explained.
