Infinity Ward will take "Call of Duty" back to outer space with "full-on sci-fi" combat this year, a tipster has said.
On NeoGAF, a video game industry tipster, shinobi602, revealed that the 2016 version of the first-person shooter game will have space battles set in a very far future. He also said that the 2016 edition of "Call of Duty" will make "'Black Ops 3' feel like the stone age...Metaphorically of course."
It should be noted that shinobi602 has a decent track record in leaking video-game-related information. He was the one who first accurately predicted that the new installment for the video game franchise, "Black Ops 3," would be handled by another studio and released to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. He also mentioned that the 2015-released game would come with cybernetics, robotic limbs, and wall-running.
Eurogamer has a follow-up report that seems to corroborate the tipster's information, saying that sources also provided the same details about the upcoming game. The publication also revealed that "Call of Duty" 2016 will be developed by Infinity Ward, but it will not be a direct sequel to the game studio's "Call of Duty: Ghosts" that was released in 2013.
However, there is no official word yet about the validity of the said leaks from Infinity Ward and game publisher Activision.
The new "Call of Duty" is reportedly slated to be shipped to stores in November for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Activision has yet to make a comment regarding the leaked information, but the game is expected to be unveiled at the E3 in June even if the game developer announced that they will not set up a booth during this year's international gaming expo, to be held in Los Angeles.
