NBC's "American Ninja Warrior" finally has an official winner after seven seasons of the show.
The show is known for its harsh obstacle courses and intense physical challenges and it never had a single contestant come out victorious from three stages, until Monday night's finale episode.
Isaac Caldier, a 33-year-old busboy and rock climber was the first crowned winner of the show for completing four stages of the Mt. Midoriyama course in Las Vegas.
The final obstacle Caldiero needed to complete was to climb up a 75-foot rope in thirty seconds, which he achieved making him the winner of the $1 million grand prize.
However, Caldiero may not technically be the first person to conquer the whole obstacle. In fact, people saw how Geoff Britten, cameraman for Baltimore Orioles, also emerged victorious in the completion of the course.
Britten finished the course first, technically making him the first person to ever finish the challenge.
The show announcer even burst in excitement saying that Britten did it and for the first time, Mt. Midoriyama had been conquered.
However, in order to be winner of the grand prize, one should be the fastest person to climb the rope and that was where Caldiero succeeded, finishing the climb in under 27 seconds.
That only meant that 36-year-old Britten walked away with nothing but the fact that he was acknowledged on TV as the first ever to complete the Mt. Midoriyama course.
Though Britten's victory may not have lasted that long, he remained grateful for the opportunity and even sincerely praised Caldiero for his success.
"I don't think he harbors any ill will about it. He's just so happy to have done what he's done. He's received tons of accolades from fans," said show producer Kent Weed, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
According to Weed, Britten even told him that he's glad that it was Caldiero who beat him.
