Brock Lesnar is likely to return by next week, Dec. 19, as he has been advertised for a live event that will take place at the Forum in Los Angeles.
And while his return was seen forthcoming, it was how it would go and who he would target next. From the looks of it, the curious choice is someone who made a surprise return at World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Hell in a Cell — Alberto Del Rio.
To recall, Lesnar was last seen at that WWE pay-per-view (PPV) while Del Rio made a surprise appearance that night to win the U.S. title from a departing John Cena.
The U.S. title hasn't really been in focus as of late, somehow overshadowed by Rio's affiliation with Sheamus' League of Nations.
But all that could change starting next week with Lesnar having Del Rio on radar. A better question is perhaps why and if Lesnar would be turning face?
Del Rio has been technically taking on a heel role at the moment so if Lesnar suddenly appears, it somehow signifies a major character change on the part of the Beast. Of course it may only be about the title but one has that feeling that it could lead to "bigger" things that could see the other members of Sheamus' stable involved.
Conversely, it could be the opposite. Del Rio could suddenly be the "Black Sheep" of the clan and such could ultimately mean a face-turn for the Hispanic wrestler.
Either way, Lesnar's return could be a big shot in the arm for the WWE as it sees most of its stars out due to injury.
With the ratings game not getting any better, a return by the Beast Incarnate could help somehow, although it may take more than him and Paul Heyman to boost the company's unstable state.
