It looks like "Better Call Saul" has just begun production for its third season on AMC.
Last week, AMC released a few photos from the season 3 set of "Better Call Saul" on the official Twitter account of the popular "Breaking Bad" spin-off series. Captioned "#BetterCallSaul is back in court (the food court) in 2017," the post celebrates the start of production of the new season and teases the reappearance of the hardworking but ennui-filled Cinnabon employee, Gene, Jimmy McGill's (Bob Odenkirk) newest persona post-"Breaking Bad."
Aside from that, the post also reveals a picture indicating the continued battle of wits between Jimmy and his brother, Chuck (Michael McKean).
In an interview with IGN last week, series creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould teased that the fight between the McGill brothers is going to get even worse as soon as "Better Call Saul" hits its third season on AMC.
"I think it's safe to say that we are always looking for ways to deepen and intensify and complicate the current situation, dramatically speaking," Gilligan explained during the interview. "So yes, you can expect to see that pay dividends. I don't know if people are gonna be happy with it, but you can expect to see that," she added.
The two brothers have actually been battling it out with each other during the second season of the series, and Gilligan feels like this conflict between Chuck and Jimmy just keeps tugging at heartstrings as it goes on.
"And what I'm left with as a viewer, as one of the first fans of the show, is a feeling of sadness that these guys can't just love each other. That things have gotten so toxic in their relationship that they're just sticking it to one another," the series creator elaborated.
"And Chuck, as upstanding and correct a gentleman as he is, as someone who looks down on Slipping Jimmy, his con man brother, it must run in the family because he's a pretty good con man himself. It must be genetic," he added.
"Better Call Saul" season 3 is set to premiere sometime in 2017.
